Prime Minister follows the executive position to develop the "Semaf" plant

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, followed the executive position of the Simaf plant development, in a meeting held via video conferencing technology, in the presence of Eng. Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, , Lt. Gen. Abdel Moneim Al-Terras, Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, and officials of the Ministry and the authority.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister affirmed the interest the state attaches to the localization of the railway carriage industry, considering that this file is on the government's priority agenda during this period, pointing out that the country is currently working on relying on local products to reduce the import bill, stressing at the same time the necessity That the national product be of great quality and not less than the one imported from abroad.

For his part, Lt. Gen. Abdel Moneim El-Terras thanked the Prime Minister for his interest in developing the SEMAF factory, and for agreeing to the standard of relying on the local product, which is that the quality of the products is not less than those imported from abroad, stressing that work is being done to deepen local manufacturing, as well as the expansion of production lines , Noting that the authority is committed to developing the Semaf plant, in order to meet the demands of the Ministry of Transport.

The Prime Minister viewed a comprehensive report presented by Eng. Ismail Najdi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Simaf Factory, on the position of development work, pointing out that development is carried out according to the assignments of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to develop the Simav factory with the latest machines and devices to ensure the quality of production according to specifications, as well as Directives of the Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, to add new lines to it alongside the existing lines.

He explained that a contract was signed with one of the international consulting offices, specialized in developing railway factories, as a main consultant for the project, to develop a plan for the development of SEMAF and supervise its implementation in all fields, and a national consultant office was also contracted for design work and overseeing the infrastructure development of the plant in a way that suits With the demands of modernization and development and according to the latest international industry systems, a digital technology company was also contracted to implement the plant's digital development plan in line with development goals.

He pointed out that the contents of the development plan include the development and modernization of production lines with the latest machines and equipment, the establishment of a production line for stainless passenger cars and according to the specifications of the Railways Authority to serve the local market and export markets, as well as the establishment of a diesel tractors assembly line with the possibility of developing in the future to produce electric tractors in cooperation with the Bombardy Company Al Alamiah, in addition to deepening the local manufacturing of Al-Bawaji, feeding industries and interior equipments, in addition to possessing a modern and advanced design for mobile units with the development of the ability to design the various mobile units and the work of continuous development.

He noted that the development includes also the development of the factory’s infrastructure and engineering in line with the modernization of production lines, in addition to the rehabilitation of technical cadres in all specialties and the restructuring of the factory, to meet the requirements of updating production lines, as well as electronic connectivity of all sectors of the factory and work cycles and digitization of production lines In addition to qualifying the factory to obtain international accreditation certificates, to be a distinguished international factory capable of competing in the global market, and also raising the production capacity of the factory to 1,000 vehicles annually (passengers / strong / cargo / metro / tram) instead of 300 vehicles.

Engineer Ismail Najdi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SEMAF Factory, emphasized that the cost of developing the SEMAF plant amounts to about 55 million euros, and explained, in detail, that in the field of developing and modernizing production lines, modern machines and equipment required to be provided and contracted on 89 equipment have been identified. In addition, a contract was signed to raise the efficiency and rehabilitation of 46 equipment located in the factory, in addition to setting a general plan for the factory after development, including planning diagram, machines and equipment for all production workshops with their contents, raw materials stores, components and handling equipment.

Engineer Ismail Najdi explained that the total of vehicles required to be produced according to the needs of the Ministry of Transport is 3344 vehicles with an average of 334 vehicles annually, between passenger cars, power cars, cargo cars, metro and tram cars, and monorail cars.

In the field of developing design and development capabilities, he clarified that the demands of developing the design and development sector have been identified to enable the factory to use the latest technological technologies in design work and machinery management, and he indicated that coordination is underway with the development consultant to possess a modern design for rail passenger carriages compatible with the demands of the Railways Authority Egypt.

In the field of quality assurance of production in accordance with international specifications, he stressed that a plan has been put in place to qualify the factory to obtain an international accreditation certificate (IRIS) by reviewing and creating all the required technical documents, as well as digitizing all quality control activities at all stages of the work, and increasing the capabilities And the capabilities of technical inspection and quality control through the management of the latest devices and measuring means that ensure the highest levels of quality.

In the field of developing the factory's digital architecture, Eng. Ismail Najdi explained that in the framework of the development of the Simaf plant, a contract was implemented to implement a system for controlling and supporting decision-making by linking machines and monitoring systems to the central server, applying an integrated system for planning and managing institutions, as well as developing quality control sector equipment from Through the digitization and supply of the latest automatic inspection and measurement equipment and training thereon, and developing the technological infrastructure of the factory from networks and information center and the system of digital and spatial security, as well as providing and qualifying human resources.
